"It was a year after my grandmother died, 6 years ago, that I had the chance to received Elizabeth's guidance through the grieving step I was stuck in, guilt. I had been struggling with that emotion for over a year and Elizabeth's teachings help me realize that it was in me the power to heal my self but not letting me deal with that emotion, hiding it, was the thing that was keeping me down. She helped me to deal with it and let go off emotional garbage, to be more gentle to myself, to my emotions and to chance the way I was dealing with the things I didn't like or made me feel uncomfortable.
Thank you Ely!" - Jessica

I believe in a space where we can co-regulate our nervous systems through being nonjudgmental, while embracing our joy AND discomfort. We can navigate crises together.”

"West created a warm, welcoming, and empowering environment for me. In the past, I felt like I always needed to hide my pain and work endlessly. West taught me that I am deserving of respect in professional spaces. They taught me that my needs don't have to be too much, and guided me in areas I needed feedback to create that balance sustainably." - Christine L.
"...their individual professional qualities shine even brighter as a team. Compassion is the word that comes to mind when I think of them both."
- Piper T.
West and Elizabeth met while working at the Suicide Prevention Service of the Central Coast, where they both began as responders on the crisis line. Their work centered on offering focused, grounded, and compassionate support to people navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
They soon became trusted guides on the team, recognized for their skill on the line and the reliable support they offered their colleagues. When someone needed help navigating a complex situation, locating a resource, debriefing a difficult call, or simply feeling steadied after a long shift, West and Elizabeth were the people others turned to.
Both eventually moved into administrative and leadership roles. West served as Program Manager and later Assistant Director, shaping program culture and systems. Elizabeth stepped into the Training Manager role, where she redesigned and facilitated an extensive training program that prepared many new responders to take calls with confidence and care. Together, they helped cultivate a space defined by non-judgmental, compassionate, culturally humble, and as-anti-carceral-as-possible support for both callers and staff. West often gave out the local hotline number, knowing that anyone who called would be met with the kind of response they both believed in.
When it came time to explore the next chapter of their careers, it was clear they wanted to continue working together. Their shared values, complementary strengths, and years of collaboration made starting a coaching practice the natural next step. Their new venture brings forward the same core principles that shaped their hotline work: deep listening, clear communication, grounded presence, and a commitment to meeting people exactly where they are.
West was my supervisor while I was a hotline responder, the best supervisor I ever had. Then I became the Trainer Manager of the Crisis Responders, and suddenly, we formed this amazing team where we deeply cared about responders and callers.
Working with West was a pleasure; it always made me feel safe, and I felt a spiritual resonance with their nervous system.
Clear Space was born from our collaborative work and respect for each other. We wanted to expand our co-regulation to other nervous systems and to continue holding space for others.
Elizabeth has always been a remarkable person. On the hotline, I witnessed them hold people through some of their most painful experiences with calm, clarity, and compassion, helping them find a way forward even in the darkest moments.
When Elizabeth moved into the Training Manager role, that same presence translated into a teaching style that made new responders feel capable and supported at the same time. They created an environment where people felt safe to learn, ask questions, and grow into the work.
Stepping into a new venture with Elizabeth felt natural. I trust their ability to accompany people through struggle with compassion and clarity, and I trust the way they think, organize, and move through complex work with care.
Starting Clear Space together is a continuation of what we’ve always done: creating steady, grounded support for people who need it, and doing it in partnership with someone whose judgment and presence we deeply respect.
